Discover How to Monetize Your Facebook Group

There’s no denying the fact that Facebook groups are a fantastic way to generate free traffic to your other web properties. There are many group owners who leave money on the table by not siphoning off traffic from their groups into their mailing list.

The hard truth is that a Facebook group is never truly owned by you. The highly volatile Facebook can easily ban your account for reasons that you weren’t even aware of… and trying to reinstate your account will be an uphill struggle. Once you lose your account, you might even lose your group if you didn’t add a few other people as admins for the group. Whatever the case may be, NEVER let yourself be lulled into a sense of complacency when you’re building your house on rented land.

Here are a few ways to monetize your Facebook group and use it to build your business…

1. Build your list

Have a link in your group description that points to a landing page on your site, where you’re offering a freebie in exchange for their email. You’ll get people signing up to be on your list.
You may also post visuals in the group that point to blog posts. Use a content locker plugin halfway in the blog post. This will encourage people to sign up to read the complete article. If your content is too good to pass up on, many people will sign up.

Posting freebies in your group with a link to a landing page to access the gifts will help boost sign ups too. From then on, you’ll need an email sequence to deliver value and promotional emails to get sales. This is one way to indirectly monetize your Facebook group.

2. Sell, sell, sell

The most obvious way to generate sales will be to mention products in your group with links pointing members to the order page. These could be your own products or affiliate products. Remember to personalize the post and presell the products.

Always remember that you should be delivering more value in the group than selling. Finding the right balance will be tricky, but generally, try to post 4 value-driven posts for every 1 promotional post.

3. Monthly membership

There are several Facebook groups which charge members a monthly fee to a part of the group. This is a form of recurring revenue that will lend stability to your online business.

If your group delivers a ton of value that helps the members with their problems and/or goals, you can bet that they’ll carry on paying every month to be a member. However, since most Facebook groups are free, you’ll always need to be delivering top-notch content.

Generally, people will not be too happy being part of a Facebook group and paying for it if the content is not up to par. After all, there are many free groups for them to join. So, you’ll constantly need to create excellent content.

4. Facebook lives

You can use Facebook live videos to drum up interest in an upcoming product you’re launching or a product you’re promoting. It’ll be fun for your members to see who you actually are… and they’ll trust you more.

Try not to do a live video that’s longer than 5 minutes. It’s easy to lose the attention of people on social media. Be focused in the video and keep it fun… and presell the product.

5. Inner circle

A Facebook group that serves as an ‘inner circle’ can be used as a bonus to a paid product. This is a technique that’s used by tons of vendors online.

For example, if one buys a calisthenics app with daily workouts, they’ll get access to the Calisthenics Insiders Facebook group and they can share tips and ask for advice from others who are in the niche.

This is attractive for many beginners who are always looking for guidance and help. A supportive community that’s a bonus to your current product will make it more attractive and boost sales.

6. Offer service providers and opportunity to advertise

Besides just selling products, you can create a group where freelancers hang out. You’ll need to niche down here. If you own a Facebook group that has thousands of niche site marketers, you can charge freelance writers a monthly fee to advertise their services here.

The key here is to select the good service providers, charge them a higher fee and limit the number to an amount that’s not too high. You want your paying freelancers to get hired without them facing too much competition.

A freelancer who is getting more gigs through your group will be more than willing to pay your monthly fee because your group acts as a form of lead generation for him/her.

7. Drive traffic

Use your Facebook group as a traffic generation tool to send traffic to your blog posts, YouTube videos, etc. The goal is to get the people in your group familiar with your content. Then they’ll perceive you as an authority… and if your content is excellent, they’ll trust you and buy from you. It’s that simple.
These 7 methods of monetizing your Facebook group have been tested and proven to work for many marketers. Choose one or two methods and focus on them. That’s the surest way to succeed.

Your Facebook group is more than just a group. It’s a very powerful tool that can be leveraged to increase your authority, build your list and ramp up your sales. Use it wisely.
